times of crises – resignation and fear
everyday, we see the images of crises showing us that we have no power. we see numbers, stats and charts showing us that this system is collapsing right now. we have come to a point where the end of all things seems a nice option. no wonder, people are frustrated and afraid of the future. where is the perspective?
black and white, so simple
black is no light, white is no color, transparent textiles show the naked truth. clear cut shapes are simple solutions? these are the directives of the new collection, but this paradigm longs for critique, questions, variations. are you ready to question yourself?
a future nothing
there are crises and catastrophes coming upon us, but every generation has its troubles. you are spellbound by the things to come, but the future needs you, the future needs a design.
the big nothing is an expression of an omnipresent, all-embracing depression.
the big nothing is the critical point, which ultimately leads to the better.
the big nothing is the way out.

biedermeier me!
ruins of modernity presents the new aw 2011|12 collection biedermeier me! it is reflecting on today's omnipresent return to backward values considering traditional gender roles, the predominance of privacy over public sphere and politics, and the revival of safety thinking and state security measures. fashion allows to communicate this to everyone as it uncovers both phenomena of the zeitgeist and the innermost of the designer.
expression of the self
today, fashion is more than ever before a means of showing one's attitudes, feelings, mentality, ethics, etc. garment is nothing but a canvas on the surface of the body; it covers the skin but shows the inside; we wear certain clothes, and in doing so, we are communicating.
elements of the past
the reference to the fashion of the biedermeier times is a statement on today's backward values; concepts of the era of restauration are experiencing a renaissance in our everyday lives. By incorporating elements of biedermeier fashion, e.g. dropshoulder and biedermeier sleeve, these pieces of fashion are telling us about our petty bourgeois lives.
designing the future
in short, this collection expresses the rejection of backward values. there is no way back to suppression of women, no way back to censorship and police state, no way back to an era of men and women without a voice. we have to design our future!
biedermeier me! is an expression of surprise after a close look into the mirror.
biedermeier me! helps us to overcome this shock and to leave behind the past.
biedermeier me! welcomes self-confident women and embraces the future.
